Learning To Not Say Sorry
Almost no one wants to be a burden. Those of us with Celiac Disease don’t want to make things harder for our families or our friends. We don’t want to “impose.”
I had some health issues this past week that immediately make me feel guilty that other people had to help me out. Whether it was taking time off of work, or physically helping me to do something, I didn’t want to be a burden. That I should be able to “handle” myself better.
And then I realized instead of saying “sorry” I could in turn say THANK YOU. Thank you for feeling that I’m important enough to change your schedule. Thank you to nurses and hospital staff for maintaining our dignity when our bodies rebel against us. Thank you for just listening. Thank you for accommodating my dietary needs.
I hope you understand that you’re worthy of the same dignity and compassion that you daily show to others. May those of us who are the last to ask for help be willing to accept it with gratitude. <3
Sincerely,
Margaret Clegg

Taking Advantage Of What’s in Season
Agriculture is big business in Michigan, and we’re lucky to have a diversity of fruits and vegetables available to us. In June, strawberries, blackberries, zucchini squash and beans are in abundance. And cherries begin to ripen at the end of the month. Here are some great gluten free recipes to try this month.
